Moratalla

A town in the heart of nature

Landscapes with history

Moratalla is the reflection of its more of 10,000 years of history. Rock art, the remains of the Roman culture and the Muslim conquest, adorn a spectacular natural landscape that makes Moratalla a unique corner of the region.

The Castle protected the medieval town

Moratalla conserves the silhouette of medieval towns. A stroll through its narrow, steep streets will reveal colourful façades, Gothic and Baroque-style architectures, and lead you up the hill where the Castle dominates the city.

Moratalla puts your senses to the test

Moratalla “thunders” in Holy Week during the Fiesta del Tambor (The Drum Festival) and its flavours are almonds, olives and apricots, hidden among the vast wooded landscape, which protects the municipality.
